The Black Seed – the universal healer

September 22, 2014

The black seed (Nigella Sativa) sometimes as well referred to as black cumin or black sesame, has been know for centuries for its healing properties. The earliest recordings date back to the ancient Egyptian times. Black seed oil has been found in Tutankhamun’s tomb, which dates back about 3,300 years ago.

This herb has been given the following healing properties:

  • Anti-Bacterial
  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Anti-Ulcer
  • Anti-Cholinergic
  • Anti-Fungal
  • Ant-Hypertensive
  • Antioxidant
  • Antiviral
  • Gluconeogenesis Inhibitor (Anti-Diabetic)
  • Hepatoprotective (Liver Protecting)
  • Hypotensive
  • Insulin Sensitizing
  • Leukotriene Antagonist
  • Renoprotective (Kidney Protecting)
  • Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Inhibitor

Well, that is quite a list and it is actually even longer. A lot of research has been done on the black seed. It also has been noted that it benefits the following conditions and the list is much bigger then that, I just did not want to scare you.

  • High Blood pressure
  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Colon Cancer
  • Cancer prevention
  • Flu
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Opiate Addiction/Withdrawal

It has been said that the Islamic prophet Mohammed claimed that it is “a remedy for all diseases except death.”

Bon, quite a claim, non?
